Gulshan Kumar, the famous producer of Bollywood and the founder of the music company T-Series, has a birthday on 5th May. He gave great music to many Bollywood films. Gulshan Kumar had brought music to people’s homes from T-series cassettes. Due to this a new form of music has been seen in Hindi cinema. Gulshan Kumar was born on 5 May 1956 in a Punjabi Arora family in Delhi.

His original name was Gulshan Dua. He used to run a fruit juice shop in Delhi’s Daryaganj market with his father. This shop became the beginning of Gulshan Kumar’s career, after which it took him to the top of the world of music. The story of Gulshan Kumar’s struggle is from zero to hero. He slowly entered the Indian music industry and went on to become famous.

Gulshan Kumar took the music industry forward with his hard work and passion. He made a significant contribution to his career by giving breaks to many singers including Sonu Nigam. Gulshan Kumar formed a company named Super Cassettes Industries Limited which became the largest music company in India. He founded ‘T-Series’ under this music company. T-Series is one of the major music and film production companies of Hindi cinema today.

Gulshan Kumar used to donate a part of his earnings to social service. Gulshan was among the highest taxpayers in 1992-93. Apart from music, Gulshan Kumar was also very much discussed for charity. He established a Bhandara at Vaishno Devi which still provides free food to the devotees and pilgrims who visit there.

 

But the death of the generosity-filled Gulshan Kumar was very painful, which shook the entire film industry. In fact, the people of Mumbai’s underworld had extorted him, but Gulshan Kumar refused to bow down to his demand. Because of this, he was shot dead on August 12, 1997, outside a temple in Mumbai.
