“Bollywood Films Are Not Presenting True Picture of India” Naseeruddin Shah Targets Bollywood In Recent Interview

Bollywood veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has always been in the news headlines for his controversial statements. Now once again he has created a controversy with one of his statements. But this time, the controversy is getting worse because this time he has targeted Bollywood films. The actor has said that Bollywood films are not presenting the true picture of India. Naseeruddin Shah believes that the most important function of cinema is to keep a record of its time, but the worry is that if future generations watch Bollywood films to understand today’s India, they will be very disappointed.

Naseeruddin Shah who is famous for his powerful performances in hit films like Nishant, Aakrosh, Sparsh, and Masoom recently attended an event in which he made several comments that had created stress among people. Let us tell you that during the Kerala Literature Festival (KLF), the actor said, “I think current films are not presenting the right picture of India. The most important purpose of serious cinema is not to bring change to the world.”

Aakrosh fame actor further said, ‘I don’t think anyone’s thinking changes after watching a film, no matter how great it is. Yes, it can help you raise some questions.’ In a conversation with actress Parvathy Thiruvothu, Naseeruddin said, “If after 100 years people want to know what India was like in 2025 and they find a Bollywood film, then I think it will be a big tragedy.” During the same conversation, he also talked about the difficulties that filmmakers face while making films that reflect the realities of the times.

The actor said that films that try to show the truth often face a ban or struggle to find an audience. During the promotion of his film ‘Taj: Divided by Blood’, Naseeruddin, who played the role of Mughal emperor Akbar, made a statement that stirred up controversy. He said, ‘The Mughals did not come to India to loot.’ Naseeruddin Shah expressed concern over some Mughal rulers being made villains and questioned the declining recognition of their contribution to India. This comment sparked a flurry of discussions, in which many opposed his views.
