Famous film producer Boney Kapoor has made several hit movies. But for last few years, he took a backseat. With daughter Janhvi Kapoor’s Mili, he is back in the game. During the promotions of the film, Kapoor opened up why he distanced himself from launching his kids- Arjun, Janhvi and Khushi while he did not step back from giving a dreamy start in Bollywood to his brothers Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor.
Talking to a leading daily, Boney said that he spent a lot of money when he launched his brothers Anil and Sanjay. “It was our decision. I had launched (brothers) Anil and then Sanjay and there was no one to stop me. Main shakkar pe gud milata rehta hoon aur shakkar me itna gud milaya ki diabetes ka khatra ho gaya (I keep adding sugar to jaggery and that turned into a diabetes threat). I was launching my brother and did not leave any stone unturned. Paisa paani ki tarah bahaya (spent a lot of money),” he stated.
“So, I decided someone else should launch the kids. I will invest (money) as per their market value once they are all set (in the profession),” Boney added.
For the unversed, Boney Kapoor’s production introduced Anil Kapoor to the filmy world with Woh Saat Din in 1983 alongside Padmini Kolhapure and Naseeruddin Shah. Sanjay Kapoor got launched with Prem opposite Tabu in 1995.
Boney’s son Arjun entered Bollywood under Yash Raj banner with Habib Faisal’s Ishaqzaade opposite Parineeti Chopra while Janhvi stepped into showbiz with Karan Johar’s Dhadak opposite Ishaan Khatter. Boney’s second daughter Khushi is going to appear first in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies.
