While there have been significant strides in sports in India, we still need a better base where women sports can thrive. This must be brought into the mainstream of sports. Achieving this requires a combination of policy changes, societal acceptance and media support. One is the opportunity for women to play sports on an equal basis. Several underscored female professionals lack the framework and venture. By investing in training facilities, coaching and competitive platforms, their potential can be developed. Although government initiatives such as Khelo India have started filling this gap, such efforts still lack target based programmes.

Back to the point, education is a very fundamental factor in how people are going to perceive women sports. Schools need to support girls partaking in all forms of physical activities and competitive sports from a young age. Making sports a mandatory subject and also conducting tournaments only among the girls to enhance self-esteem, as well as enthusiasm. The media is nigh all-powerful in shaping perceptions. Despite this, women sports get very little air time compared to their male counterpart events. Turning to India, nothing has come close PV Sindhu and Mithali Raj in cricket and Mary Kom in boxing have left behind something for the younger generation to aspire. Through social media campaigns, documentaries and endorsements from female athletes, we can actively begin to normalize women in sports. Additionally, it is paramount to shatter notions placed within our society. Generations of women have had to choose between being adventurous and embracing traditional female aspirations such as marriage; this is why many families are not allowing girls to go into sports. Promotion of success stories should be combined with campaign awareness emphasising that sports careers also deserve a due place among any other profession for women. Finally, corporate sponsorships can elevate women’s sports. Feminine Artistry: Brand Collaborations with Female Athletes For many female athletes in the spotlight, brand collaborations offer support and visibility. With hosting of tournaments and leagues for International women, like IPL for the women cricketers further strengthens their position. Sections in society, Netflix, Institutions and Policy-makers have to play a role by building the culture of women sports integrated into the random lives of Indians. This inclusiveness will help ensure that opportunities for participation, performance, and leadership are open to women in the sports sector of India. Not only will this change benefit female athletes themselves, but it will add greater depth and diversity to the fabric of our nation’s sporting heritage
