Jungkook of BTS was the star of the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which began on November 20. The Al-Bayt Stadium, which was held in a newly built retractable roof football stadium in Al Khor, Qatar, was visited by football enthusiasts and a BTS member.
More than 60,000 audience members, including sports teams and fans, greeted Jungkook for a performance alongside Qatari singer and record producer Fahad Al Kubaisi ahead of the opening match between Qatar and Ecuador will compete in the 2022 World Cup.
Jungkook began by singing his newly released single ‘Dreamers’, and while he initially focused on his singing, he quickly became comfortable on the heavily-watched stage and moved his focus to his dances.
Halfway through the performance, the Qatari singer joined him, his magnificent voice taking over, and the two hugged it out in the centre, with Jungkook finishing with a solo verse. A dance breaks ensued, during which the Golden Maknae’s performance abilities were obvious.
Dreamers Jungkook pre-released the official soundtrack, Dreamers, his solo effort, on music platforms worldwide on November 20th. It makes him only the second-ever soloist, following Ricky Martin, who released The Cup Of Life, his official solo music for the 1998 World Cup. The song is claimed to have reached 100 number-one spots on iTunes charts throughout the world in less than 12 hours, marking yet another momentous achievement for the BTS member.
FIFA posted a recording of Jungkook’s performance of Dreamers on their official YouTube channel, and the BTS member received love and support from fans and non-fans alike.
Jungkook performed Dreamers in an all-black ensemble consisting of a Versace bomber jacket, cargo pants, and Bottega Veneta boots. Keeping his accessories to a minimum, the 25-year-old let his visuals and voice speak for themselves. A spectacular platform awaited him as he sang in front of thousands of people, many of whom were unaware of his amazing influence but quickly became admirers following the performance.
Jungkook went on to conduct a Weverse Live shortly after his performance, dressed in his opening ceremony outfit. The power vocalist talked about his experience competing in the World Cup and being able to release his official song for it.
He talked about the many hours of rehearsal he put in to be ready to perform the choreography, which he only learnt the day before. He acknowledged his trepidation before going out to give it his all, and he thanked the fans and the other members of BTS for their support.
