Ayan Mukherjee’s visual spectacle Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva has been in the news since it was perceived. After finally reaching the theatres, it is doing wonders in terms of figures. Even after opening to mixed reviews, Brahmastra is creating a storm at the box office. The domestic collection of the film is nearing Rs. 200 crores.
Among various speculations about the film, one that is doing rounds is about the huge budget it is made on. Sources have claimed that the film required Rs. 410 crores for its completion. A few days back, actor Kangana Ranaut also took a dig at it and quoting new numbers, she claimed that the director had wasted Rs. 650 crores on the film.
Now, putting an end to all the rumours, the lead actor of the film, Ranbir Kapoor has broken the silence over the economics of the film.
While speaking to a leading daily, Ranbir said, “These days, we are reading a lot where people are discussing the budget of the film. People are saying this much is the budget and this much is the recovery. But Brahmastra is unique being where the budget is not just for one film but for the whole trilogy.”
“The assets we have created for the film, like the fire VFX or effects for other superpowers, they will be used in three films. So, its not like the figures floating around, whether it’s hundred rupees or two hundred rupees, are correct. Its all wrong. The economics of this film is not like the economics of other films that have been made in our industry,” he further added.
Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva ihas been produced by Star Studios and Dharma Productions. It stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna and Shah Rukh Khan. The other two parts of the trilogy will feature new faces from the industry.
