Charu Asopa Recalls Her Traumatizing Casting Couch Experience, ‘3 Din Tak Bukhar Nahi Utra’

Television actress, Charu Asopa has faced a terrible time in her personal life. Her ugly fallout and subsequent divorce from ex-husband, Rajeev Sen went public due to which the duo grabbed negative limelight for almost 2 years. Now, the actress is back at acting with the TV serial, ‘Kaisa Yeh Rishta Anjanasa’. Currently, she is striking a balance between her hectic shoots and family life where she has to take care of her 18-month-old daughter, Ziana.

Charu revisits her struggling phase

In a recent interview with ETimes, Charu talked about the struggling times when she first came to Mumbai. The actress shared that she came from Bikaner with her entire family because they had heard so much about the industry, they didn’t want to leave her alone. After she got a house on rent and settled, her father and brother left. Charu’s mother, however, stayed back with her. She would often go with the actress to auditions and meetings.

Furthermore, Charu revealed that she had faced the casting couch from a big production company during her initial days. Recalling the horrible incident, she said that she was barely 20-21 years old when she went for a movie meeting to a producer from a very well-known production house. The casting director kept the contract in front of the actress but kept an unusual term. He asked her to compromise with a few people he knew. Hearing this, Charu straightaway turned down the offer and she got fever for three days.

In the same conversation, the actress also told she faced multiple rejections in the industry. She mentioned how she would put efforts to look good but by the time she reached the destination, all of it would fade away and she looked messed up.

For the unversed, Charu Asopa has done shows like ‘Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev’, ‘Baalveer’ and ‘Mere Angne Mein’. She was married to Sushmita Sen’s younger brother Rajeev Sen. After facing compatibility issues, the duo parted ways in 2023.
