Veteran Bollywood actor Chunky Panday recently shared a quirky and unexpected anecdote from the early days of his career. Speaking on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Chunky recalled a bizarre incident when he mistakenly attended a funeral, thinking it was a regular event.
In the early stages of his career, Chunky would often attend various events to earn some extra income. “I used to have a bag ready; whoever would call me, I would take my bag and run—be it a wedding, birthday, or even a Mundan ceremony,” he recounted. However, one morning, he was invited to a “quick event” by an organiser while on his way to Film City.
The organiser instructed him to wear white clothes for the occasion, and Chunky, without questioning it, arrived at the venue. But upon his arrival, he was taken aback as he noticed people whispering and behaving unusually. Soon, he realized that he had mistakenly arrived at a funeral instead of a celebration.
“I saw the dead body and realised it was a funeral. I thought the organiser might have passed away by the time I reached,” Chunky said. However, the organiser soon approached him with an unusual request. “He came up to me and said, ‘Sir, don’t worry, your packet is with me. The family said that if you cried, they would give more money.’ This really happened,” Chunky added, leaving the audience in splits.
The actor’s humorous recount of the incident had everyone laughing, highlighting his ability to find humor even in the most unexpected situations.
On the work front, Chunky Panday, who was last seen in the Netflix film Vijay 69 alongside Anupam Kher, will next be seen in Housefull 5. The fifth installment of the popular comedy franchise is set to feature Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, and others, with a release date set for 2025.
