Coldplay Lead Singer Chris Martin and Fifty Shades of Grey’s Fame Dakota Johnson Engaged After 6 Years of Dating.

The Coldplay lead vocalist proposed to the actress for marriage “a while ago,” according to the News. “They have been besotted with each other from day one, so taking this next step was inevitable,” a source revealed on Wednesday.

“They are in no rush to plan the wedding but are just enjoying making their commitment official.”

Connected in 2017

The two have been connected since 2017, but they parted ways briefly in 2019. Johnson, who is actress Melanie Griffith’s Academy Award-nominated daughter and actor Don Johnson’s daughter, ignited engagement rumours in 2020 when she was spotted wearing a sizable emerald ring on her left ring finger.

Couple blessed by Ex-wife of Chris Martin

The couple was also reportedly blessed by Martin’s ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow. She revealed last October that she is “good friends” with the “Madam Web” star. She went on to describe her as “an adorable, wonderful person.”

Representatives for Martin, Paltrow, and Johnson have not responded.

I love being a step-mother

They tried to keep their relationship out of the media’s attention. Dakota raved about being a stepmother figure to Martin and Paltrow’s children in an interview with Bustle published this week. “I love those kids like my life depends on them. With all my heart,” she said, referring to the former couple’s daughter, Apple, 19, and son, Moses, 17.

At another point in the article, she touched upon her friendship with Paltrow, 51, and noted that she believes her chosen family is “equally as important, if not more,” than family related by blood.

Open to having own kids

Johnson also stated that she is “open” to having kids of her own.

“I’ve gotten to this place where I want to experience everything that life has to offer,” the “50 Shades of Grey” actress added.

“And especially being a woman, I’m like, ‘What a magical f-king thing to do. What a crazy, magical, wild experience.’ If that’s meant to happen for me, I’m down for it.”
