Comedian Sunil Pal Goes Missing, Later Found Safe; Police To Investigate Incident
Comedian Sunil Pal, known for his comic timing and roles in Bollywood films, caused a stir on Tuesday when reports emerged about him being untraceable for several hours. His wife, Sarita Pal, had sought police assistance after failing to reach him. However, by late evening, the comedian was found safe, and he is now on his way back home.
The situation unfolded when Sunil, who had travelled out of Mumbai for a show, failed to return as scheduled on December 3. Concerned over his absence and unresponsive mobile phone, Sarita reached out to authorities. Initially, his phone was unreachable before it eventually got switched off, escalating fears.
Hours after the missing report, Sunil contacted his family, assuring them of his safety. He reportedly informed them that he was en route home. Sarita confirmed the development, stating in a message to Mumbai-based photographer Viral Bhayani’s team, “Sunil ji se baat ho gayee. He has spoken to the police.”
Film trade analyst Girish Wankhede shared further insights, revealing that Sunil had informed him about a “problem” he faced but assured him that it had been resolved. “He is now taking a flight from Delhi to Mumbai,” Girish added.
Unit 9 Crime Branch official Daya Nayak also confirmed that the comedian was safe and returning home. “The actor was found safe, and we are investigating the facts of the case,” he stated.
Sunil Pal rose to fame in 2005 after winning The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, earning a reputation as one of India’s leading stand-up comedians. He later appeared in supporting roles in films like Hum Tum (2004) and Phir Hera Pheri (2006), further cementing his place in the entertainment industry.
The police are expected to question Sunil Pal upon his arrival to understand the circumstances surrounding his brief disappearance. While the situation has been resolved without any major incident, it raised concerns among his fans and well-wishers.
