“He screamed at her.”

Hayek published an op-ed article in The New York Times. She shared her story of being harassed by Weinstein. Many people were inspired to come forward and tell their stories of being assaulted. Frida, Salma’s Oscar-nominated film, was co-produced by Harvey’s Miramax. But the Eternals actor also served as the project’s producer. Salma Hayek once told the tale in an interview with The Guardian. She said, “I did feel all right [when he bullied me]. OK, I would shake [afterward], and it did depress me, but there was a cartoon aspect about the whole thing.” She added, “When he would call me up [during the making of Frida] and scream, ‘Why do you have a [monobrow] and moustache? I didn’t hire you to look ugly!’ I was like, ‘But didn’t you ever look at a picture of Frida Kahlo?’”

“He never saw me weak.”

Salma Hayek also noted that if a man had played Cyrano de Bergerac, Harvey would have never reprimanded him for the nose. Cyrano de Bergerac is a man with a big nose. He believes he is not attractive enough to win his cousin Roxane’s love.

The veteran actress detailed how she was forced to be recognised. It is not that she doesn’t get afraid. However, people won’t see it on her face.

Salma Hayek said, “He never saw me weak. I can be almost intimidating in my calm strength, you know?”

In her op-ed, Salma Hayek detailed ways in which Harvey Weinstein would change his tactics whenever she refused his sexual advances. She wrote, “I hope that adding my voice to the chorus of those who are finally speaking out will shed light on why it is so difficult and why so many of us have waited so long.”
