Amidst the Coronavirus cases in the country, there have been several cases linked to Black fungus infection or mucomycortisis with extremely high fatality rate. Experts have warned against a deadly infection spreading in the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra called White Fungus.

In the midst of Covid crisis, the country has to face yet another challenge to deal with fatal Black fungus and White fungus. Medical experts have reported more than 4 cases of this White fungal infection in the state of Bihar.

This virus can affect the lungs, kidney, brain, mouth, intestine, stomach, private parts and even skin and nails. According to Dr. SN Singh’s report, the patients had symptoms like Covid but were Covid Negative. Detailed investigation reported involvement of White fungus.

He also pointed out that negligence while using an oxygen cylinder for Covid patients can put them at risk of White Fungus. According to experts, the White fungus affects the lungs and can be detected by performing HRCT tests.

People with weak immunity are the most affected and are likely to be in danger. Diabetic and people under steroids can be most affected by the infection.

Moreover, this infection is a risk to pregnant women and children hence there is an urgent need to sanitize the environment and emphasis should be given to hygiene and cleanliness!

While there is not enough proof to suggest that this new infection is life threatening, doctors have been issuing warning saying that unlike the black fungus, this one spreads easily to the major organs of the body and can cause swift infection.

Again, as the cases are falling, it is important to be vigilant about the symptoms and treatment of the infection from the very beginning.
