In the first photo, Zaira is seen signing her nikahnama with henna adorning her hands and a striking emerald ring visible on her finger. The second image beautifully captured the essence of the occasion, reflecting simplicity, grace, and deep spiritual emotion. Though Zaira quit the film industry at the peak of her career, she remained vocal about important social and religious issues during her time on social media. Known for expressing her views with clarity and courage, Zaira has often spoken up against the misrepresentation of Muslim women, especially those who wear the hijab or niqab.

In 2022, Zaira weighed in on the hijab controversy that made national headlines. She stated that the belief that the hijab is merely a “choice” is often rooted in misinformation. In a heartfelt statement, she wrote, “The inherited notion that hijab is a choice is based on misinformation. It’s often the result of convenience or ignorance. In Islam, hijab is not a choice, but an obligation. A woman who wears hijab is fulfilling a God-given duty to the one she loves and is devoted to.”

She also condemned the systemic pressure put on Muslim women to choose between education and religious practice and said, “Promoting this idea that Muslim women must choose between education and hijab is unjust. Forcing them into a dilemma and then criticizing them for the outcome is a form of prejudice disguised as empowerment.” Her statement resonated with many, particularly young Muslim women navigating their identities in modern society.
