Deepika Padukone is one of the most well-liked actresses in the Hindi film industry. She has a large following of fans, and the actress is not afraid to speak her opinions on any subject.

The Om Shanti Om actress has often spoken out about mental health and how she suffered from depression, and she has always been willing to lend a hand to others who are experiencing similar difficulties.

In the latest interview, the actress discussed the image of mental health in Indian film and how it has changed over time.

Questioned how far she believes the representation of mental health in Indian film needs to go, she said that “we have a long way to go.” And how are we going to get there? Deepika Padukone responded with “compassion and sensitivity,” according to the actress.

She said that if an actor were to represent a character suffering from a physical disease, for example, they would do extensive study and due diligence to determine the most accurate way to reflect the character’s condition. The same kindness should be afforded to those suffering from mental diseases.

According to her, performers, writers, and directors shouldn’t just wing it on the big screen anymore. “We should treat characters suffering from mental diseases with the same honesty and sincerity as we do biopics,” says the author.

Deepika Padukone went on to say that one thing she aspires to do in the next several years is to have a therapist on hand on the sets of the films she does. There is a doctor on set, so I don’t see why we can’t have a mental health expert there. ”

“I hired a therapist for myself during the filming of Chhapaak (2020) since there were days when I would have panic attacks or feel claustrophobic,” admitted the actor.
