Despite all the directors, actor roundtables, and year-round lists, Deepika Padukone has passed her verdict on the best acting performance of 2023. She shared a scene from Bradley Cooper’s ‘Maestro’ and called it one of the ‘greatest’ of recent times.
‘Best Performances in Recent Years’
While sharing the viral London Symphony Orchestra scene from the Leonard Bernstein biopic on her Instagram stories, posted by the screenplay. She captioned, “Aah, this scene! Probably one of the greatest performances I’ve experienced in recent years.”
I spent six years on these six minutes.
Bradley Cooper’s Maestro is based on the lives of Leonard Bernstein and his wife, Felicia Montealegre. It is a portrait of the public and private sides of the legendary composer and conductor.
Bradley also opened up about his concerns about filming the viral scene. He revealed during a Los Angeles screening of the movie, “That scene I was so worried about because we did it live… It was recorded live. I had to conduct them. And I spent six years learning how to conduct six minutes and 21 seconds of music. I was able to get the raw take where I just watched Leonard Bernstein [conduct] at Ely Cathedral… And so I had that to study.”
Mulligan’s portrayal of an artist
The film is now available on Netflix for people to stream. It is expected to be the biggest player in the awards season, especially Mulligan’s portrayal of an artist living in the shadow of a genius and a wife grappling with the compromises she’s made to support her husband.
