Delhi Metro on Tuesday launched FASTag/UPI-based cashless parking facility at Kashmere Gate Metro station in Delhi. Dedicated Intermediate Public Transport (IPT) lanes for autos, taxis, and e-rickshaws were also inaugurated at the station as part of the Multi-Modal Integration (MMI) initiative. Senior officials of DMRC and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) were also present during the launch.
The parking fee will be deducted through FASTag, which will reduce the time taken for entry and payment. Only vehicles with FASTag will be allowed to park in this parking lot.
FASTag
“For the first time in the country, FASTag/UPI based cashless parking facility was launched at Kashmere Gate Metro Station by Dr. Mangu Singh, MD, DMRC,” DMRC said in a statement.
This exclusive cashless parking facility located at Gate No 6 of Kashmere Gate station can accommodate 55 four-wheelers and 174 two-wheelers. Entry/exit and payment of four-wheelers can be done through FASTag.
The entry of two-wheelers will be possible only after swiping the DMRC smart card. Smart card swipe is used only for entering the entry/exit time and adding the fare and no money will be deducted from the card. The parking fee can be paid by scanning the QR code through the UPI app.
UPI Payment
In the future, payment can also be made through DMRC/NCMC card. This facility has been started as a pilot project of DMRC. In addition, DMRC is planning to implement similar systems at more of its parking facilities in Delhi-NCR.
In addition, Dedicated Intermediate Public Transport (IPT) lanes for autos, taxis, and e-rickshaws were also inaugurated at Gate No. 6 and 8 of Kashmere Gate station.
In the second phase of MMI, a food court is under construction. It will be set up by DTIDC. And there will also be a bus terminal constructed by DMRC, which will have 3 lanes with 5 bus capacities each.
