Anderson created the script and is directing the adaptation, which begins filming in the United Kingdom this month. The project is the first to be cancelled since Netflix bought the Roald Dahl Story Company in a blockbuster deal in the fall of 2021, giving the streaming service the rights to the author’s complete repertoire. Although it is unclear how long Anderson has been working on the project, he is a fan of the author’s work, having previously adapted Fantastic Mr. Fox as a stop-motion picture in 2009.
Wes Anderson’s latest film will star Benedict Cumberbatch, Dev Patel, Ralph Fiennes, and Ben Kingsley. While it is unknown what roles Patel, Fiennes, and Kingsley will portray, it is known that Cumberbatch will not only play Sugar but also serve as a link between the many stories by playing multiple characters.
On the Work front, Patel received plaudits for his performance in A24’s The Green Knight, which was released in July 2021.
Dev Patel’s filmography is as diverse and colourful as the actor himself, so fans will enjoy seeing his best films on Letterboxd. He has received numerous honours and nominations, including a BAFTA Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Critics’ Choice Award, as well as nominations for an Academy Award, another BAFTA Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and three SAG Awards.
