Actor Diana Penty recently participated in an exclusive photoshoot for HT City, where she shared her thoughts on Christmas celebrations. Diana expressed that Christmas is her “most favorite time of the year” as it holds a special place in her heart. She grew up in a diverse family with a Christian mother and Parsi father and emphasizes the importance of celebrating the festival as a unified family unit.
Reflecting on her cherished memories, especially from her childhood, Diana Penty recalls the joyous tradition of her entire family coming together for Christmas lunch. This included uncles, aunts, grandparents from both sides and cousins. This created a day filled with happiness and warmth.
Diana Penty Embraces Holiday Spirit
According to Diana Penty, Christmas embodies a “warm, fuzzy time of year” that will forever hold a special place in her heart—a time for reconnection, forgiveness, and cherished moments with loved ones. Fondly reminiscing, she vividly recalls the joy of crafting Christmas sweets, particularly Kulkuls, with her family, sharing laughter and friendly competitions over whose Kulkuls looked the least perfect.
While the busy schedules may have altered the tradition of making sweets together, the 38-year-old has embraced a newer ritual—decorating her Christmas tree. Describing it as therapeutic, she begins by choosing a theme, often centred around a colour or aesthetic that resonates with her during the season. Given her current affection for metallic, especially silver, and her fascination with bows, her Christmas tree becomes an extravaganza of silver bows. Diana Penty passionately asserts that there are no rules to decorating a Christmas tree, allowing for creative freedom and personal expression.
Diana Penty’s Christmas Delight
Indulging her sweet tooth during the holidays, Diana Penty openly confesses, “I look forward to Christmas sweets the most! It’s a tradition I grew up with – kulkuls, marzipans, milk cream, walnut fudge, coconut sweets,” shares the Cocktail actor.
Reflecting on the delightful goodies associated with the season, she mentions gingerbread cookies, Yule log cake, and pecan pie, but her ultimate favourite is the traditional Christmas fruit cake. Soaked in rum for weeks before Christmas, topped with marzipan and sugar icing, she believes it’s worth every calorie and more.
A cherished memory for her involves going carol singing with the local choir around the neighbourhood, spreading joy to many. Recalling her upbringing, she credits her dad and mum for exposing her to original, old-school Christmas carols, particularly an album by Nat King Cole titled “The Magic of Christmas.” Featuring timeless carols like Silent Night, Away In The Manger, and O Holy Night, it left a lasting impression. She also fondly reminisces about Mariah Carey’s hit single ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You,’ a song she loved then and still enjoys today.
Discussing her Christmas plans for this year, Diana Penty reveals, “No elaborate plans so far. It’ll probably be a quiet Christmas with family and close friends. But you never know; sometimes, last-minute, spontaneous plans turn out to be the most fun! One thing’s for sure – I’m going to be indulging in Christmas cake and sweets throughout the season!”
