Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has been in the intensive care unit of Mumbai Breach Candy Hospital since January after testing positive for Covid-19 and pneumonia. She’s been treated by Dr. Pratit Samdani, her family said that she had mild covid symptoms and had been taken to ICU because of her age.
Earlier this week a tweet read, “There is a marginal improvement in Lata Didi’s health and she continues to be in the ICU”.
Recently rumors of the singer’s death is flooding on many social networking sites, including Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook, for which the family said, “Kindly refrain from spreading disturbing rumours or falling prey to random messages regarding Didi’s health. Thank you.”
Former actress and politician Smriti Irani also appealed on behalf of the Lata Mangeshkar family to avoid speculating about singers health. In one of the tweets she wrote, “Request from lata Didi’s family not to spread rumors. She is responding well to treatment and God willing will return home soon”. Let us avoid speculation and continue to pray for Lata Didi speedy recovery and well being.
Lata Mangeshkar who won Bharat Ratna and several other honors is the voice behind some of the Indian cinemas most beloved song. In 1974, The Guinness Book of Records listed Lata Mangeshkar as the most recorded artist in history. She is also known as ‘Nightingale of Bollywood’.
Meanwhile people across the nation are currently praying for her speedy recovery. On Wednesday, saint of Ayodhya, Jagadguru Paramahans aacharya Maharaj performed ‘Mahamritynjay jaap’ and ‘Hawan’ for the singer’s health. He also told IANS, “We have performed ‘Mahamrityalnjay jaap’ for the better health of singer Lata Mangeshkar. I would request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to meet her”.
