The tussle between ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ producer Asit Modi and actor Shailesh Lodha is not new. It took a turn when Shailesh started a legal battle against Asit. Now, for the first time, the producer has opened up on the controversy and has shared his side of the story.

Asit was deeply hurt by Shailesh’s move

Asit said that he felt really bad with the way Shailesh handled this entire situation. He stated that when he got the court notice a few months back, he could not understand the reason behind it because he had not refused to clear Shailesh’s dues. In fact, the teams in touch with him regarding his pending fees through mails and text messages.

‘Shailesh did not know acting but took a risk by making him Taarak Mehta’

According to ETimes, Asit told that it does not suit Shailesh to mention and target him in his couplets and poems. It hurts him. Asit said, ‘While we shared a good relation, I never misbehaved with him and always gave respect to his work. I took a big risk by giving him titular role knowing that he is not even an actor. Then one day, suddenly a fight changed everything. I feel sad if anyone leaves Tarak Mehta because I love the whole unit. He was the one to leave the show. We didn’t throw him out.’

Asit was expecting Shailesh’s return

Furthermore, Asit also shared that the production was hopeful till the end that Shailesh would return to the show. But when he did not return for a long time, they had to replace him with Sachin Shroff. Asit quoted, ‘He wanted to go out and work. He wanted to participate in Kavi Sammelan and ‘Taarak Mehta’ is a daily soap. So, this is not possible with it.’
