Dil Hi Toh Hai: Karan Kundrra denies it being a adaptation of K3G
Small-screen’s heartthrob Karan Kundrra is back at doing television soaps after a long time and his fans can’t keep calm. Not just fans, Karan’s friends, co-stars and his production team is excited to have him back. Karan Kundrra will soon be seen portraying the lead role of Ritwik Noon in Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming romantic-family drama ‘Dil Hi Toh Hai’ on Sony Tv.
A new promo of the show has just been released. Watch it here:
Karan had started his acting career with Ekta Kapoor’s romantic drama ‘Kitni Mohabbat Hai’ in 2009 where he played an arrogant and suave businessman Arjun Punj. His on-screen and off-screen chemistry with his co-actor, and then-girlfriend, Kritika Kamra was such a hit among audience and fans that show’s producer and Karan’s close friend Ekta Kapoor decided to make another season of the show. Kitni Mohabbat Hai 2 was launched and it ran successfully for 150 episodes.
Karan Kundrra then went on to doing reality TV shows like Gumrah, MTV Roadies, MTV Splitsvilla etc. He also did some Punjabi movies along the way. The actor was last seen in two Bollywood movies ‘Mubarakan’ and ‘1921’.
But he is doing a full-fledged television soap opera after a long time. In a recent interview with India-Forums, Karan was asked how he is feeling about working with Ekta and Balaji Telefilms after a long time. The actor said, “Balaji is home ground for me. I feel the most comfortable there. And you know, my schooling, my training, everything happened there. When I went back to the set, there were all the people who I’ve known for 8-9 years now. Obviously, I got pampered because they’ve also known you for so long and they are happy to see you back. The best part is that they are happy that you’ve gone out, do something big and you’ve come back. You know, it’s just a beautiful feeling working with Balaji.”
When asked why he left TV to do films he denied ever leaving the television industry. “I don’t think I take it that way. I never left television. I started with television, I did fiction, then Gumraah, then more fiction with MTV, then Roadies was going on and in the middle of all these I did a couple of Punjabi films, I did Horror Story, then Mubaarkaan happened and Love School was also happening at the same time. I was also a part of Roadies while shooting for 1921. But it was just because of the dates that I couldn’t do the last season of Roadies because my dates were clashing and I had to be in London. If you look at it that way then I never left television. I’ve just gone and accomplished more things,” the actor said.
There have been many speculations since past few months that Ekta’s new show will be a TV adaptation of Karan Johar’s iconic film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’. Karan was asked if the rumours were indeed true. He answered, “I don’t think that there is any way that our show is related to Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. The promo is about a flamboyant boy who gets lots of attention from the girls and is an out and out romantic saga. It has nothing to do with the movie.”
‘Dil Hi Toh Hai’ is going to premiere on 19 June 2018 at 10 pm on Sony TV. We wish Karan all the best for his new show.
