Diljit Dosanjh Announces Not To Hold Concerts In India Anymore Until…
Singer Diljit Dosanjh has declared that he will not hold concerts in India until the country improves its live performance infrastructure. The announcement was made during his concert in Chandigarh on December 14, where several videos shared on social media captured the moment.
In one of the clips, Diljit, speaking in Punjabi, expressed his frustration with the current state of concert facilities in India. “Here we don’t have infrastructure for live shows. This is a source of big revenue, and many people get work and are able to work here,” he said. He further emphasized his commitment to improving the concert experience, adding, “I’ll try next time that the stage is at the centre so that you can be around it. Till this happens, I won’t do shows in India, that’s for sure.”
Despite this setback, Diljit’s concert in Chandigarh, part of his Dil-Luminati tour, was a success. He dedicated the show to Gukesh Dommaraju, India’s newly-crowned International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Champion, praising his dedication and hard work from a young age. On social media, Diljit shared a video from the concert, reflecting on the challenges one faces in life and how overcoming them leads to success. He also referenced a popular line from the film Pushpa, “Saala nahi jhukega toh kya jija jhuk jayega” (If I don’t bow, will my brother-in-law bow instead?), adding his own twist to the famous dialogue.

Before the concert, the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) issued an advisory urging Diljit to refrain from performing alcohol-themed songs. The advisory, issued by CCPCR chairperson Shipra Bansal, specifically mentioned songs like Patiala Peg, 5 Tara, and Case, urging Diljit to avoid any versions of these songs that promote alcohol, drugs, or violence.
Diljit’s Indian tour will conclude with a performance in Guwahati on December 29. His decision to take a break from performing in India until improvements are made to concert infrastructure has sparked significant discussion among fans and industry professionals.
