Nag Ashwin’s directorial venture ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is doing great at the box office. Starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, the film is getting love from the audience across the country and the world. However, actor Mukesh Khanna, who appeared in the role of Bhishma in BR Chopra’s television series ‘Mahabharata’, has expressed his disappointment over the film. The actor alleged that many elements of the Mahabharata have been distorted in the film. Mukesh Khanna posted a long video on his YouTube channel talking about ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.

He also clarified that he found the way the facts of the Mahabharata were distorted in the film offensive. The veteran actor said, ‘In the film when Krishna takes out his mani and curses Ashwatthama, this never happened during the Mahabharata. I want to ask the makers, how can you imagine knowing more than Vyas Muni, who said that what is not present here cannot exist anywhere else? It was not Krishna who removed Ashwatthama’s mani, I can tell you that it was Draupadi who instructed that her mani should be removed after he killed all her five children.’

Discussing the battle scene depicted in the film, Mukesh Khanna added, ‘There was a battle between Arjuna and Ashwatthama where both of them fired Brahmastra. However, only Arjuna knew how to reverse the attack. Since Ashwatthama could not do that, he decided to aim the Brahmastra at Abhimanyu’s wife, who was pregnant. Krishna protected her for nine months.’

Mukesh Khanna further added, ‘I am telling this story in so much detail because I don’t understand how Krishna can order Ashwatthama to protect him in the future as Kalki? How can a powerful person like Krishna ask someone like Ashwatthama to protect him?’ Mukesh Khanna said that every Sanatani will be hurt after seeing this. The actor also raised many questions. He suggested that the government should have the power to approve any project that has a mythological connection to the script. However, Khanna praised the performances of the stars and praised Amitabh Bachchan’s performance the most.
