Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ is once again in the news. Controversy has been created after the International Film Federation of India’s jury head Nadav Lapid called ‘The Kashmir Files’ vulgar. Many Bollywood celebrities have slammed Nadav for this comment. From Anupam Kher to Vivek Agnihotri, the director of Kashmir Files, he has been lambasted for calling the film propaganda. The debate about ‘The Kashmir Files’ has started not only in India but all over the world. Veteran actor Piyush Mishra has also jumped into this debate. Reacting to the controversy regarding Kashmir files, Piyush Mishra has spoken in favour of Vivek Agnihotri.
November 28 was the last day of the International Film Festival of India. Over 200 films from 79 countries were screened during the 9-day-long festival. At the same time, many films from all over the world were awarded in the closing ceremony. In the same ceremony, jury head Nadav Lapid described ‘The Kashmir Files’ as a propaganda and vulgar film, after which controversy erupted on social media.
According to the report of India Today.in, Piyush Mishra has expressed his views on the controversy regarding Kashmir files. He said, “These people have not seen Kashmir. These people do not know Kashmir. They have never been to Kashmir. I had read earlier also that Naseeruddin Shah had said, Ravish Kumar had said that this is a false and propaganda film. He has a documentary based on the life of Kashmiri Pandits. Each and every dialogue and incident in it matches what they (Kashmiri Pandits) have said themselves. India cannot be judged by sitting in an AC studio. India is judged when you have to come out, see life and walk in the sun.”
The film ‘The Kashmir Files’ directed by Vivek Agnihotri is based on the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. It depicts the oppression of Kashmiri Pandits. The film was released on March 11, 2022. The movie stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi in lead roles. There were a lot of controversies even at the time of the release of this film. To show the condition of Kashmiri Pandits, Vivek Agnihotri and his team did research on this subject for about four years, only then the film could be made.
