Let us tell you that Amol Gupte had written the story of this film and he wanted to make it with Akshaye Khanna. But Aamir did that film don’t know for what reasons. Akshaye Khanna told in an interview in the year 2022 how Aamir snatched ‘Taare Zameen Par’ from him and also said that he does not regret it now. ‘Taare Zameen Par’ came in the year 2007 and Aamir Khan not only produced and directed it but also acted in it.

But when Amol Gupte wrote the script of this film, he had Akshaye Khanna’s name in his mind as the hero. Since he did not know Akshaye directly, he tried through Aamir but instead of having discussions with Akshaye for the film, Aamir took that film himself. Akshaye Khanna told one of the media houses about this, ‘He contacted Aamir because he was Aamir’s friend and said, I really want to tell this story to Akshaye. I don’t know him, but you have just worked with him in ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, so can you call him and tell him that I want to narrate a script to him.?’

Let us tell you that Akshaye further said, ‘Aamir told him that I cannot recommend a script until I hear it myself. So first narrate it to me and if I like it, I will tell Akshaye. Aamir liked the script so much that he did the film himself.’ Akshaye Khanna then told how once Aamir told him that Amol Gupte was bringing a film for him, but he himself did that film. Akshay had said, ‘One day I was shooting in a studio, I don’t remember, it was Mehboob maybe. And Aamir was also shooting for a film, so I just went to his van to say hi. Then he said you know what, this happened, and I did not allow him to come to you, and I made the film myself. So I said okay, no problem.’
