In this film, he was seen opposite Tabu but the film did not do well at the box office. After this, his next film ‘Raja’ also flopped at the box office. When the film flopped, Raja’s director Indra Kumar also felt that the film had flopped, although the film later became a huge hit and did wonders at the box office.

Recalling this film recently the director of the film Indra Kumar told Siddharth Khanna in a conversation that after giving two hit films, he made the film ‘Raja’. Indra Kumar said, ‘When I saw the original film, I did not understand some scenes. I realized my mistake, so I rewrote the script and shot it again. That film was also a super hit and was immensely loved by the audience to the extent that people remember it to date’.

Talking about the film, Indra Kumar further said, ‘Just three weeks before the release of Raja, Sanjay Kapoor’s other film with Tabu which was Prem was released. But it flopped. People started making fun of me. Even I lost hope in Sanjay and the film. In my mind, I thought, Indra Kumar, consider this your last film. After this, let’s go to Haridwar your career is over now. There is no hope for you or for your career now’.

The director said, “When I was watching the film in the theater, the same people who were making fun of Sanjay Kapoor for his last film were clapping on the scene in which he slaps Madhuri Dixit.” He said, “There is a scene in which Madhuri Dixit accuses Sanjay Kapoor’s brother of harassing her, but he slaps her and takes his brother’s side. He refuses to listen to her. The whole theater was clapping on this scene.”
