Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah is one of the most popular actors in the film industry. Besides giving stellar performances on screen, the actor often comes under discussion for his statements. In a recent interview, Naseeruddin said that he doesn’t find value in awards as they are a consequence of lobbying in industry. He revealed that he uses his Filmfare awards as door handles for his washrooms at his farmhouse.

Naseeruddin uses Filmfare trophies as door handles

In an interaction with The Lallantop, Naseeruddin was asked about his views on awards and if there is an inch of truth in rumours that he uses awards as door handles in his house. The actor giggled and said that any actor who has done hard work and put effort to portray a certain role is a good actor. If you pick just one person from the bunch and say that ‘this is the best actor of the year’, it’s not fair. The actor said that he is not proud of any award I have won. In fact, he did not even go to collect the last two awards he got.

Admitting to the speculations, Naseeruddin said that when he built a farmhouse he decided to put these awards there. Whoever goes to the washroom get two awards each as the handles of it are made of the Filmfare awards.

Naseeruddin doesn’t find any value in awards

Furthermore, the actor said that he doesn’t find any value in these trophies as he can’t stand competitive awards. He was happy when he received the initial ones. But then, trophies started collecting up around Naseeruddin and he soon realised that these awards are a result of lobbying. They are not necessarily given because of merit. However, the actor added that he was happy to receive Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards.

For the unknown, Naseeruddin Shah has lifted three National Awards for his performance in Paar, Sparsh and Iqbaal. He has three Filmfare Awards for Akrosh, Chakra and Masoom to his credit.

Workwise, the actor appeared last in the second season of Taj: Reign of Revenge alongside Aditi Rao Hydari, Rahul Bose, Sandhya Mridul, and Zarina Wahab. It streamed on Zee5.
