Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, has seen massive pre-sales for its advance booking. Over one million people have seen the Siddharth Anand-directed film since it opened in theatres. While the first day sees the most advanced ticket sales, day two is expected to bring in about 2 lakh.
Tickets for the film were reportedly sold so far for 14 crore nett. A total of 6.5 crore nett in advance bookings were recorded on the first day, with 7.5 crore net recorded on the second. We anticipate that by the time early registration ends, we would have surpassed the Rs. 20 crore threshold.
YRF’s film, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, is expected to outperform Brahmastra in early ticket sales by Sunday evening. The advance sales for Brahmastra were the second highest of any Hindi film.
In India, Pathaan will debut at 6 a.m. on premium formats. Pathaan is doing quite well at the moment, with over 58% of its opening day ticket sales being booked in advance. Pathaan is expected to compete with the box office success of War and KGF 2, which both broke records by earning 20 crore nett on their first day of release. Baahubali 2 director SS Rajamouli also saw a 50% increase in advance ticket sales.
In addition to doing well in the West Bengal circuit, Shah Rukh Khan’s film also did well in the Nizam and Andhra areas. This is a record for any Hindi film ever released. While advance booking for Pathaan has been slow in key regions like Gujarat and Punjab, the film is likely to quickly make up ground there.
The opening weekend for Pathaan will last for 5 days, and early projections had it making between 150 crore and 200 crore. If ticket sales are any indication, the picture should gross over $300 million globally in its opening weekend.
