Filmmaker Ektaa Kapoor has always tried to bring something new to the table. She keeps experimenting with content in films. Her latest release ‘Thank You For Coming’ is receiving a lot of criticism for it bold storyline. The film which stars Bhumi Pednekar in lead deals with female pleasure, something which has not been talked about much in films before. Now, in a recent savage session on X (formerly Twitter), Ektaa tackled several questions of social media users. She tweeted that she is briefly on the platform before her team shuts her out for talking too much.

Ektaa Kapoor defends subject of ‘Thank You For Coming’

The producer reacted to a user who called her sex comedy ‘disappointing’. She stated that the amount of noise her film is making is in itself a proof. Ektaa said that polarised content is the need of the hour.

Further in her defence, the director shared, “‘Thank You For Coming’ is a little mad movie made by her crazy partner Rhea Kapoor. It doesn’t smash patriarchy but tickles with feathers under its nose so all the bulls***t gets sneezed out. There is only mad love for the film or unpalpable anger.”

Ektaa added that she is getting for ruining culture because her film ‘promotes’ self pleasure and at the same time, she is getting applauses from Indian and international press. She questioned the irony in the statement and quoted, “How that is ruining anything if you’re keeping your hands to yourself”.

Ektaa on making adult movies

Apart from addressing all the negative reviews on her film, the filmmaker also responded to a troll who asked her to stop making adult movies. Ektaa replied, “No I’m an adult so I will make adult movies.”

A user accused the producer and her good friend-filmmaker Karan Johar for ruining the nation with their films and shows. He also blamed them for allegedly increasing the country’s divorce rate. To this, Ektaa simply responded with “Hmmmmmmm hmmmmmm.”

For the unversed, Karan Boolani has directed ‘Thank You For Coming’ while Rhea and Ektaa have bankrolled it.  . It features Bhumi Pednekar in lead while Shehnaaz Gill, Dolly Singh, Kusha Kapila, Shibani Bedi, Pradhuman Singh and Karan Kundrra appear in supporting roles.
