Esha Deol Reveals Why Dharmendra Was Against Her Acting Dreams; ‘An Orthodox Punjabi…’

Bollywood actress Esha Deol might just have a few hit films to her credit, she often comes under discussion for her personal life given the fact that she is the daughter of legendary actors- Dharmendra and Hema Malini. In a recent interview, the actress opened up on her bond with father Dharmendra. She also revealed why the veteran actor was initially against her choice of joining the film industry.

Esha shared that her dad was not ready to see her in films because of his orthodox punjabi roots. She said that being a conservative punjabi male, he was bound to protect the women in his family. So, that was just the way of showing his protective side and nothing else.

Furthermore, the actress stated that she grew up in a household filled with a lot of women power. A lot of women around her are strong-headed and work-oriented. All of which influenced her decision to start working at 18 and become financially independent.

Esha also made it clear that she would not interfere in the professional decisions that her children will make in future. Instead, she will only encourage them and be a strong pillar of support for them. The way her grandmother was with her mother.

Esha Deol stepped into Bollywood with 2002 film ‘Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe’ alongside Aftab Shivdasani Sanjay Kapoor and Jaya Bachchan. She went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut in the same year.

The actress tied the knot with Bharat Takhtani in 2012. The couple is parents to two daughters-Radhya Takhtani and Miraya Takhtani. Esha took a break from acting after her marriage.

The actress returned to work with 2022 web series, ‘Rudra: The Edge of Darkness’. She appeared last in web show, ‘Hunter: Tootega Nahi Todega’.
