Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment is one of the most reputed production houses in Bollywood. But seems like the duo has landed themselves in some serious trouble. In the latest turn of events, the two have been accused of not paying the daily wage workers on their sets for a long time now.
It has come to light that the total dues of the workers are around Rs. 20-25 lakh. The sources have revealed, “Around 300-400 members of the Film Studios Setting & Allied Mazdoor Union have been working for Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment since May 2022 at various locations in as well as outside Mumbai. These are daily wage workers and are supposed to be paid their wages. However, the said production house has allegedly not paid the wages of these workers for the past 3-4 months.”
Besides this, workers have also alleged Excel Entertainment of extending the working hours beyond permissible limits as per the provision in the labor law. Additionally, they have not received any payment for all the extra hours and were not provided with good quality food at work.
As workers are fearful of losing their jobs, their matter is being raised on their behalf by the union. It is having a word with all the respective authorities in Labour, Police, and Ministry of State regarding the matter. They are yet to take any legal action on it.
Farhan Akhtar and his team are yet to release any official statement about the same.
