Versatile actress Farida Jalal expressed how hurt she was that YRF forgot about her after ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai.’ The veteran actor said that after the film, Yash Raj Banner didn’t cast her until now. Saying that they have shifted loyalties, Farida doubted “If they don’t remember me ever.” Now this is the case with such an ace performer, then, what can be said about other actors?
Was an emotional experience
Working in ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ was an emotional roller coaster for Farida as she put her heart and soul into the project. However, when she didn’t hear from Yash Raj Films (YRF) for any more movies, she was devastated. “I am hurt, people shift loyalties to an extent that you don’t remember me.”
YRF cast her in ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge,’ which went on to become a superhit, after which she got the opportunity to star in ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai.’ Unfortunately, that was her last association with YRF. For someone who has such an illustrious film career, being ignored by a top production house can be sad.
Recently, she opened up about the deep hurt caused by the popular banner in the film industry. Farida Jalal also cited the changing dynamics in the movie scene where loyalties are no longer a reality.
Farida Jalal is famous for impactful roles
Farida is well-known for powerful performances in impactful roles in all her films. She contributed significantly to Indian cinema and Bollywood. Farida’s film journey began through a talent show in the 1960s. She was famous as a character artist in hit movies like “Bobby,” “Aradhana,” and “Laadla.”
She gathered critical acclaim for her top-notch performance in “Majboor,” “Dullara,” and “Mammo.” Farida Jalal worked with ace directors like Shyam Benegal and Satyajit Ray. “I did get lots of work. I have accomplished what I had to as an actor,” she reflected about her career.
Farida recalled that during the 90s, Yash Chopra made her promise something. He said, “Don’t say no ever to me or Adi (Aditya Chopra). Yeh silsila chalta rahein.” Naturally, Farida hoped she would feature in most films from their production. But as it turned out, it was a one-way promise, and their professional relationship didn’t continue.
Salman and SRK are sweethearts
The talented artiste mentioned her close bond with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. In Karan Johar’s “Kuck Kuch Hota Hai,” Jalal played SRK’s mother. They shared a deep bond and when Farida had shoulder surgery, Shah Rukh reached out. She said, “SRK called me out of the blue. So sweet.”
But now, she lost touch with SRK, “He must have changed his number.” She worked with Salman in ‘Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge’ and he was friendly to her, but they are not in touch anymore. We last saw Farida Jalal in “Heeramandi” as Qudsia Begum and her upcoming projects include “Welcome to the Jungle.”
