Filmmaker Woody Allen has announced that he will soon begin working on his 50th feature film. In an interaction, Allen said that his new film could be the last feature project of his professional career.

The 86-year-old director said that he will travel to Paris to shoot the project, which will feature French stars. “This will be my 50th film, and it may be my last,” says Allen. “I’m going to Paris in September. I got financing in the United States, but the star-cast is completely French and the film will be played in the language. I’ve already chosen the main actors,” he added.

The filmmaker said the film is “a sort of erotic and venomous thriller,” just like Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Rhys Meyers in their movie “Match Point” of 2005.

To be known, Allen has become a handicapped figure in Hollywood due to allegations of sexual abuse of his stepdaughter, Dylan Farrow, in the 1990s. These allegations gained traction in the aftermath of the #MeToo movement in 2017.

Responding to a question about the fear of not being able to make films because of the allegations, Allen said, “I am a writer, and no one can stop me from writing, and hence from working. It is the guarantee of my freedom and my independence.”

On the work front, Woody Allen’s last film was “Rifkin’s Festival,” which starred actors Gina Gershon, Christoph Waltz, and Wallace Shawn.
