Final Resting Place For Lata Mangeshkar!
Lata Mangeshkar, India’s most adored singer, who once moved Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to tears, leaves behind a country of teary-eyed lovers who grew up listening to her steady voice give wings to poets’ words and legions of heroines’ film careers.
In a Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, she had been admitted on January 8 owing to complications stemming from Covid. She died on Sunday morning. She was popularly known as the nation’s nightingale and was honored with the highest civilian honors of India and France.
The news of Mangeshkar’s passing has upset the whole film industry, with many taking to social media to express their condolences.
Who Attended the Funeral?
At Shivaji Park, Modi paid floral respect to Lata and conducted a parikrama of her lifeless remains. The Prime Minister sent his condolences to Lata Mangeshkar’s sister, singer Asha Bhosle, and her family.
Besides presenting floral tributes to her at Shivaji Park on Ram Nath Kovind, he also used this opportunity to pay tribute to her.
President Thackeray, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, batsman Sachin Tendulkar, and MNS chief Raj Thackeray attended the funeral.

PM Modi and Lata Mangeshkar have a particular affinity. PM Modi sent a special greeting to Lata didi, recalling their friendship and how she used to wish him on Raksha Bandhan.
The PMO published a statement recalling how PM Modi and Lata Mangeshkar shared the same birthday month, sharing all of their loving tweets and images.
At her funeral in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the musician. Devendra Fadnavis, the state BJP president, and Maharashtra minister Uddhav Thackeray greeted PM Modi.

The lifeless remains of India’s Nightingale were returned to Prabhukunj Building and left there for a few hours so that people might pay their respects. In Shivaji Park, the public got one last look at her from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.
After last respects from celebrities and politicians, the priests began their ceremonies at 6:58 pm. On Sunday at 7:16 pm, the mortal remains of iconic vocalist Lata Mangeshkar were cremated with full state honors at Shivaji Park. Her brother, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, lighted the pyre.
Defense forces covered her body in the national tricolor and handed it to her nephew, Aadinath Mangeshkar.
After completing the last rituals, late Lata Mangeshkar’s nephew Aadinath Mangeshkar was given the mortal remains. Hridaynath, her brother, is his father. “In Mumbai, I paid my final respects to Lata Didi.” After attending Lata’s funeral, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted about her.
The Final Word
Lata Mangeshkar (92), one of India’s most famous singers and one of the country’s significant music icons, died of multiple organ failures. There was a ceremony in the evening to mourn the death of the Bharat Ratna vocalist.
The Dadar Crematorium provided a full state funeral following all Covid rules. During the two days of mourning that will follow the death of the legendary singer, the country will remember the artist.
