An FIR has been filed against Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, along with six officials from Hyundai, in connection with a fraud case in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. The case was filed by a local resident who claimed his Hyundai Alcazar SUV had major manufacturing defects.
The complainant, Kirti Singh, alleged that the car, which he purchased in 2022 for over ₹23 lakh, began showing technical issues within months. He claimed that despite repeated attempts to get the company to resolve the problems, he received no satisfactory response. After police initially refused to register the complaint, Singh took the matter to court. Following a court order, the Mathura Gate police station filed the FIR on August 25.
Endorsement and Liability
Singh’s petition before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate in Bharatpur not only named top Hyundai executives but also included Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone as accused. He argued that the actors, as brand ambassadors, were responsible for promoting a defective product, and their endorsements misled consumers into buying the faulty vehicle.
As of now, neither Shah Rukh Khan’s nor Deepika Padukone’s team has publicly responded to the complaint.
Upcoming Projects
Shah Rukh Khan is set to star in King alongside his daughter, Suhana Khan. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, also reportedly features a star-studded cast including Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, and Deepika Padukone.
Deepika Padukone was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again. Her next project is a pan-Indian sci-fi action film titled AA22xA6, directed by Atlee and co-starring Allu Arjun.
