Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Health Is Crticial And Is On Life Support, Says AIIMS
The health condition of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has worsened over the past 24 hours. He has been admitted at AIIMS for the past 9 weeks. On Thursday morning chairperson of media and protocol division, AIIMS, Dr Aarti Vij, released a statement about the former PM’s health and said, “Former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s condition continues to be the same. He is critical and is on life support systems.”
Vajpayee was admitted to the hospital on June 11 with kidney tract infection, chest congestion, urinary tract infection and low urine output. The 93-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party leader, a diabetic, has only one functional kidney. He had suffered a stroke in 2009 that weakened his cognitive abilities. Subsequently, he developed dementia.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal visited the AIIMS to inquire about Vajpayee’s health.
