Gadar 2 Maker Anil Sharma Responds To Ameesha Patel’s Criticism, Calls Her ‘Moody’

The rift between actor Ameesha Patel and filmmaker Anil Sharma continues to make headlines following the release of Gadar 2 in 2023. Their differences surfaced when Patel expressed dissatisfaction with how her character, Sakina, was portrayed in the film. Sharma, in response, addressed her remarks in an interview with journalist Vickey Lalwani on his YouTube channel.

Filmmaker Responds to Ameesha’s Comments

During the interview, Lalwani mentioned Patel’s claim that Gadar as a brand revolves solely around her character Sakina, Sunny Deol’s Tara Singh, and Utkarsh Sharma’s Charanjeet, while excluding the filmmaker. Reacting to this, Sharma said, “Let them say whatever is in their heart. Everyone is free to express their opinion. If they feel that way, then so be it. I don’t throw stones in the mud.”

Sharma Calls Ameesha ‘Moody’

Despite their differences, Sharma maintained that Patel was like family to him. Recalling their early association, he stated that she frequently visited his house for six months when she was new to the industry. He praised her dedication but also noted that she comes from a wealthy background, suggesting that children from such families tend to be “moody.”

Clarifying his stance, Sharma said, “She worked very hard to become Sakina, but she always had a certain aura, which she still has today. Girls from wealthy families have a certain attitude, a distinct way of walking. But she is very soft-spoken and well-mannered.” He added that Patel’s demeanor played a crucial role in casting her as Sakina, as the character in the film also belonged to an affluent family.

Director Defends Changes to Film’s Climax

Patel had previously accused Sharma’s production house of non-payment of dues. More recently, in an interview with the YouTube channel Jarp, she alleged that the director altered the climax of Gadar 2 without informing her. She also stated that she would only participate in Gadar 3 if her character had a significant role alongside Tara Singh, similar to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.

Defending his decision, Sharma said any changes made to the film’s climax were necessary for its overall success. “As a director, my responsibility lies with the film, not an individual actor. If a film succeeds, everyone benefits, but if it fails, all the criticism falls on the director.” He added that had Gadar 2 underperformed, he would have faced the blame.
