Gauahar Khan’s Aadhaar Card Complaint Turns Viral Meme; Faces Backlash Online

Since the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections in Mumbai, Gauhar Khan has been a hot topic. All thanks to a viral video showing her storming away from a polling booth. In the video, she was fuming about the mismanagement there. Another clip on her Instagram Stories added fuel to the fire.

She complained about not being able to use her Aadhaar card to cast her vote. However, she later updated that she managed to vote and proudly flaunted the ink mark on her finger.

The Gauhar Khan Meme-Fest

But it was her Aadhaar Card frustration that really got people talking, with many poking fun at her suggestion to use it for voting. She argued, “I have an appeal. Why do we have Aadhar cards if we are not considered citizens enough to vote? Your Aadhaar card is your identity; you are an Indian citizen and you should be able to vote with that.”

Her passionate plea quickly went viral, sparking a wave of funny comments and memes across social media.

And so the meme fest began. One popular meme joked, “Gauhar Khan goes to Pani Puri stall to eat Dahi Pakoda.”

Another jibe says, “Gauhar Khan goes to railway station to catch her flight. Then she complains about the Railway Ministry and Aviation Ministry about missing it.”

A third meme read, “Gauhar Khan goes to NEET examination centre to give CA exams rather than complain to ICAI than she was not allowed to give exams,” while a fourth quipped, “Gauhar Khan goes to Myntra app to order food.”

Another user, “Gauhar Khan goes to CUET centre to give JEE and then complains that NEET wasn’t organised well.” The memes kept coming.

What Happened?

In a video shared by a paparazzo on Instagram, Gauhar is seen coming out of the polling booth. However, she did not pose for the photographers. Instead, she said the situation inside is ‘very confusing’ and ‘badly organised’.

She shared her ordeal on Instagram Stories as well, posting videos there as well.

“I really have an appeal. Why do we have Aadhar cards if we are not considered citizens enough to vote? Your Aadhar card is your identity; you are an Indian citizen and you should be able to vote with that. But when you go to voting counters with our Aadhar cards and ID proofs, they say you cannot vote because your name is not in the list. I’m just making a humble appeal that, on the basis of your Aadhaar card, you must be allowed to vote as an Indian citizen,” Gauahar is heard saying in the video.
