Genelia Deshmukh is gearing up for a promising 2025, with multiple projects and personal ventures on the horizon. The actress recently began filming her Marathi film Raja Shivaji, following the upcoming release of Sitaare Zameen Par, where she stars alongside Aamir Khan. “This year holds a lot for me. Raja Shivaji is underway, and we’re working on a tight schedule. Plus, there’s new growth in my business ventures. I’m excited for 2025,” Genelia shares.

After taking a ten-year break to focus on family, Genelia made her return to acting with the 2022 Marathi film Ved. Reflecting on her break, she reveals, “I took a step back in 2012, mainly to focus on my family. I felt fulfilled during that time, especially after becoming a mom. But when I returned in 2022, it was on Riteish’s (Deshmukh, her husband) encouragement. He was clear that I should pursue what I love.”

Now, back in full swing, Genelia is focused on making sure she does not compromise on the quality of her work. Ved, her first Marathi film, was a significant milestone, offering her a character unlike any she had portrayed before. “It felt wonderful to play such a role. I hope to explore more characters like that. But if they don’t come my way, I’ll wait for the right ones. I love fully immersing myself in a role, and I enjoy acting more than fame or applause,” she says.

Genelia also expresses a desire to see more roles for women, particularly single mothers or working moms, dealing with life’s complexities and emotional challenges.

Balancing multiple roles—actor, producer, entrepreneur, mother, and wife—Genelia shares how she manages it all. “It’s about embracing life fully and feeling immense gratitude. I’m not looking for validation but for the satisfaction that comes from giving my best to every role, whether as a mom, a wife, or in my career. It’s a lifelong journey, and I love every bit of it,” she concludes.
