‘I Knew That…’: Cillian Murphy’s Golden Globes Acceptance Speech Goes Viral; Check Out What He Said

Cillian Murphy won the Best Actor award at the 81st Golden Globes for his performance in Oppenheimer. Murphy played the lead role in the film and his acceptance speech is now going viral.

Cillian Murphy was awarded the Best Male Actor – Motion Picture/Drama at the 81st Golden Globe Awards for his portrayal in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’. Although many had predicted his win, his acceptance speech came as a surprise to everyone.

When he took the stage, his bright red nose was the first thing people noticed. After receiving the award, he opened with a line, “First question, do I have lipstick all over my nose?” When he received a resounding ‘yes’ from the audience, he said, “I’m just gonna leave it.”

Further, he added: “I knew that the first time I walked on a Christopher Nolan set it was different. I could tell by the level of rigour, the level of focus, the level of dedication, the complete lack of seating options for any actors. I knew that I was in the hands of a visionary director.”

‘Oppenheimer’ is a biographical thriller film released in 2023. The film is written and directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the renowned American theoretical physicist who is credited with being the “father of the atomic bomb”. Oppenheimer played a pivotal role in the Manhattan Project, a World War II undertaking that developed the first nuclear weapons.

“Oppenheimer” won several awards at the 2024 Golden Globes. Out of its eight nominations, the film won five awards. Christopher Nolan received the Best Director award, and Robert Downey Jr. won the Best Supporting Actor (Film) award for his performance as Lewis Strauss. Additionally, the film won the Best Score Award.
