Govinda Was Insulted For Not Being Able To Pay For Groceries: “My Mother Cried And I Cried With Her”

Govinda has made a name for himself in the Bollywood assiduity. Though he’s one of the most successful stars that we’ve in Indian cinema, there was a time in his life when he was lowered for not being suitable to pay for groceries. The actor had recalled the same in an old interview and how this all had made his mama cry!

Govinda is fondly known as ‘Chi Chi’ in Bollywood and has made a name for himself in the assiduity. His cotillion moves, dressing style and acting prowess make him different from all. In fact, people these days idolise him for the work he has done in Indian cinema. Govinda had made his amusement debut with the film Love 86 in 1986 and since also, there’s no looking back for him.

Govinda has worked in flicks like Ilzaam, Aankhen, Raja Babu, Hero No 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Haseena Maan Jayegi. Owing to his work, he has bagged the title of ‘Hero no 1’ of the‘90s. Still, it wasn’t always like this for him. He’d faced major struggles in his youthful age and his family had suffered hard times before his birth. His father Arun Ahuja had produced a film that had collapsed at the box- office leading to problems in their ménage.

Well, all this hadn’t made Govinda give up on his dream to be an actor, and we’re glad about it. His trip from a child living in a ‘chawl’ in Virar to getting a megastar is inspirational. In a 1997 interview with India Today, Govinda had recalled the time when he couldn’t indeed go for groceries and was lowered as his family couldn’t clear the debt. He’d also added that their situation had made his mama cry.

He’d said, “The baniya used to make me stand for hours because he knew I wouldn’t pay for the goods. Once I refused to go to the shop presently. My mama started crying and I cried with her.”

Govinda had also recalled his dream of winning an Oscar back in those days, and how people had laughed at him. He’d added, “ People laugh. They say, “He can’t indeed speak English duly, what he’ll win an Oscar? But if from nothing I could come to Govinda, surely from Govinda I can come commodity.”

Well, there’s no denying the fact that Govinda is has made himself a star from scrape. He’s now happily married to his nonage love Sunita Ahuja. They had tied the knot on March 11, 1987, and have two kiddies, Tina Ahuja and Yashvardhan Ahuja. The couple had got wedded again on their 25th anniversary.
