Director Hansal Mehta is not just popular for making brilliant films but also for his blunt nature. He is often seen voicing out his opinions openly on Twitter. Recently, Mehta tweeted something which related to director Vivek Agnihotri. Agnihotri was seen celebrating after his film The Kashmir Files made it to the list of eligible films for Oscars.

Expressing his happiness, Vivek wrote that it is a “great year for Indian cinema”. He said that it’s just the beginning and there is a long way to go.

Now, taking to Twitter, Hansal retweeted a post shared by New York-based columnist, Aseem Chhabra. It explained how the 301 films eligible for the Oscars are not the same as the shortlisted ones.

The tweet from Chhabra read, “Let me make this clear – that filmmaker who is claiming his divisive film has been “shortlisted” for the Oscars is LYING. His film has only qualified for the Oscars. Any film can qualify if it has a limited run in LA.”

Hansal amplified the same and in his reaction, he wrote, “You are a genocide denying anti-national.”

For the unknown, a list of 301 eligible films for Oscars was announced by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) on Tuesday. Indian films like The Kashmir Files, RRR, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Kantara, Chhello Show (Last Film Show), Me Vasantrao, Tujhya Sathi Kahi Hi, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Iravin Nizhal, Vikrant Rona, All That Breathes, and The Elephant Whisperers have made it to the list.
