Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, famous for impactful performances in Tamil and Telugu films, is not keen to join the Bollywood Brigade. Although the “Yashoda” and “Sarkar” star has received offers in the Hindi film industry, she is waiting for meaty roles.

Her latest is “HanuMan,” a Telugu movie released in South Indian and Hindi languages. It blends Indian mythological stories about Lord Hanuman and a bit of science fiction.

Only Roles with Substance Please

Varu, as she is fondly called, initially dreamed of becoming a heroine, but got recognition for her powerful delivery in villainous characters. Going by her fans’ encouragement, she is looking for strong scripts that suit her mettle. After her roaring fame in Tamil cinema, she ventured into Telugu, breaking all language and culture barriers.

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is now one of the most sought-after heroines in Kollywood and Tollywood. In the super-hero flick “HanuMan,” she plays the sister of the male lead portrayed by Teja Sajja.  “I perceive myself as the leading female character in my thoughts. When considering a role, I assess its relevance and substance within the film,” she puts all doubts to rest.

No Bollywood as It Lacks Excitement

About speculations of her Bollywood entry, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar says that she got several offers, but nothing excited her. “Currently, there are no intentions to venture into the Bollywood industry.” There is also a new wave of Indian cinema coming up, and hence, there are no language issues. She just needs a compelling script suitable for her.

“I consistently choose substantial roles, rather than being part of a big-scale project, “ she says about how chooses scripts. Whether the Disney+ Hotstar “Mansion 24” actor plays the sister, lead, or villain’s wife, she exerts maximum effort. “Filmmakers are presenting me with well-developed characters and trust in my ability to successfully portray such roles. Therefore, I make an effort to uphold that reputation.”

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar Is Sankranthi Queen

Varu, daughter of senior Tamil actor and politician Sarath Kumar, has managed to earn the unique tag of “Sankranthi Queen” as she delivers hit after hit every Pongal. Sankranthi or Pongal is a busy period for South films as even top actors release their movies now. Varalaxmi acted in the superhit “Krack” with Ravi Teja, which was released during Pongal 2021.

This year’s “HanuMan” also hit the theatres on Sankranthi, and there is no doubt that it will be a blockbuster. Before this, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar was seen in “Kotabommali PS,” a Telugu survival flick, starring Srikanth, a remake of Malayalam “Nayattu.”
