“Have You Heard of Washing Machines?” Anupam Mittal First Lashes Then Invests In Married Couple’s Undergarment Detergent Brand
Several entrepreneurs are getting on the sets of ‘Shark Tank India’ to pitch their ideas and ask for investment from the sharks. Following this, a married couple Samiksha and Rahul came on the latest episode of the show and presented their pitch to sharks. During their presentation, the couple showcased the product that took everyone’s attention which was an underwear detergent brand ‘Uggies’. While some of the sharks were in their favor others were against it.

The couple pitched that their product is especially for women who don’t want to wash their undergarments along with the rest of their clothes and wish to wash them separately. They have come up with their product for such women. One of the sharks, Anupam Mittal questioned the need for an underwear detergent and asked, ‘Have you heard of washing machines? You get all kinds of detergents too – clean, green, everything. Put some disinfectant and you’re done. Why are you making things difficult?’

However, the couple replied to the shark in a calm way and said that their target audience is women who avoid mixing undergarments with other clothes, especially during their menstruation. Anupam did not agree to this thing and said that they should have mentioned this during their pitch, which now seems different and investment-oriented. But Namita Thapar supported the product and said it was good.

Calling the product a nice one, she said, ‘It is very common for women to have vaginal infections because their undergarments are not as clean as they should be.’ Namita asked the couple to explain it to the investors. Namita initially decided to back out but finally joined hands with Aman Gupta and offered Rs 50 lakh for 6% equity. Anupam Mittal asked for Rs 50 lakh for 5% equity. Later, after negotiations, it was reduced to 4%. The couple agreed to the deal and accepted Anupam Mittal’s offer.
