Popular veteran actress Himani Shivpuri has essayed several characters on screen with ease. She has brilliant acting skills. Himani starred in Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ as Salman Khan’s aunt and won hearts with her light-hearted performance. In a recent interview with the production house Rajshri, the actress recalled how Salman surprised her with his improvisation while shooting for the film.

Himani shares a funny incident

In her introductory scene, Salman stunned her as he picked Himani in his arms without telling her that he is going to do that. This shocked her. Himani also revealed that both Salman and Anupam Kher were ‘pranksters’ on the sets.

Sharing the interesting anecdote, Himani said that she was doing her first scene when Salman made an entry. The moment he came, he shouted ‘Chachi jaan’ and swept her off the floor to pick her up in his arms. Himani was taken aback because as a theatre artist, she was used to doing rehearsal of everything beforehand. So, Salman’s move was quite unexpected for her.

Furthermore, she added, “I played along. Soorja ji also liked it, so he kept it. However, the next time when Salman picked her up in another scene in the movie, Shivpuri already knew about his plan and was not surprised this time. Later, in the scene where I announce the birth of Renuka’s baby boy, then also Salman picks me up. But then I was prepared, though it was not a part of the script.”

About ‘Hum Aapke Hai Koun’

For the unknown, ‘Hum Aapke Hai Koun’  was a family drama which had an ensemble cast of actors like Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Renuka Shahane, Mohnish Bahl, Reema Lagoo, Alok Nath, Satish Shah, Bindu, and Dilip Joshi. It is one of the most iconic films of Hindi cinema. The film which hit the theatres on 5 August 1994 became the highest-grossing Indian film of the 1990s.
