It has been 35 years since the release of one of Bollywood’s most popular and hit films, ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, but the memories of this blockbuster film still come back to haunt the actress. Bhagyashree, who started her career with this 1989 hit film, was convinced by an incident with Salman Khan during the shooting of the film that Salman was flirting with her, but the truth was something else.

In an interview in 2024, Bhagyashree recalled her debut film and shared an anecdote from the shooting of the song ‘Dil Deewana’ in Ooty. Away from home and missing her boyfriend, Himalaya Dasani, the actress revealed that she was feeling depressed during the outdoor schedule. She revealed that Salman’s behaviour suddenly changed around her and said, ‘He used to follow me around and keep singing songs, and I used to think, ‘What is happening here?”

At that time, Bhagyashree felt that Salman had crossed the line. But one day, Salman surprised her by calling her aside. She said, ‘I know! When she asked what he meant, Salman replied, ‘I know who you love. Why don’t you call Himalaya here?’ The actress revealed that she was shocked to know that Salman was only trying to boost her spirits as he knew about their relationship.

That incident marked the beginning of a strong friendship. Salman Khan became one of her closest people, even during her wedding to Himalaya Dasani, when her family did not attend, Salman stood by her. She said, ‘When we got married, Salman and Sooraj ji were by my side because my family did not attend my wedding.’ Bhagyashree still remembers the faith, love, and support she got from Salman, a bond that lasted longer than their on-screen romance in ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. Bhagyashree made a memorable debut in 1989 with ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ opposite Salman Khan, which turned out to be a blockbuster.
