‘Himachali Women Can Do With Some Hype,’ Says Kangana Ranaut; Addresses Blake Lively Case

Mandi MP and actor Kangana Ranaut took to Instagram on Sunday to celebrate the women of Himachal Pradesh. Sharing a collage of herself alongside fellow Himachali actors Preity Zinta, Yami Gautam, and Pratibha Ranta, Kangana highlighted the hard work and beauty of women from her home state.

In her post captioned “#peopleofhimachal,” Kangana wrote, “When I go to Himachal and see our women equally or better looking than us work tirelessly in the fields—no Insta, no reels—raising cattle and making ends meet, I feel they can definitely do with some hype. #himachaligenes #himachaliwomen.”

The actor-politician’s post resonated with many, sparking a conversation about the representation of rural women in mainstream media.

Support for Blake Lively

Kangana also voiced her support for Hollywood actor Blake Lively amid her legal battle with It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. Drawing a parallel between Hollywood and the Indian film industry, Kangana referred to the Hema Committee report, which highlighted systemic issues in the Malayalam film industry.

“Even in Hollywood, women who refuse to compromise are maligned, and their careers are destroyed. It’s not just Bollywood; a similar report called Heme Committee had come out about the Malayalam film industry. It is worrying and shameful,” Kangana wrote on Instagram.

Blake Lively recently filed a complaint against Justin Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and attempts to tarnish her reputation. Kangana’s comments added momentum to the ongoing discourse on harassment and gender bias in the entertainment world.

Recent Projects

On the work front, Kangana Ranaut was last seen in Tiku Weds Sheru, Chandramukhi 2, and Tejas in 2023. However, her much-anticipated biopic on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Emergency, faced setbacks when the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) denied it certification earlier this year.

After a legal battle, the film has now been cleared for release in 2025, adding to the list of Kangana’s high-profile ventures.

With her candid posts and outspoken stance on various issues, Kangana continues to make headlines, both as an artist and as a politician.
