Himani Shivpuri Revealed Govinda Refused To Board A Flight And Went Back Home All Because of Superstition

For years, Bollywood has been abuzz with rumors about Govinda’s superstitious nature, and now actress Himani Shivpuri, who has shared the screen with him in several hit films, has confirmed these stories with an interesting revelation. In a recent interview with one of the media houses, Himani shared an incident where Govinda once refused to board a flight and went back home, all because of a superstition. The situation became so tense that veteran actress and producer Aruna Irani personally went to his house to bring him back to the shoot.

Himani, who has worked with Govinda in popular films like Saajan Chale Sasural, Hero Number One, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai, Had Kar Di Aapne, Ek Aur Ek Gyarah, and Jodi Number One, described how the actor often made decisions based on astrological advice. “It was wonderful working with him, but things started to change when he began believing in auspicious timings suggested by his priests,” she recalled.

Narrating the Hyderabad incident, Himani said, “We were all ready to board the flight, Raveena Tandon, Aruna Irani, and director Kuku Kohli, but Govinda was missing. Kuku panicked and asked, ‘Where is Chi-Chi?’ Aruna calmly assured everyone, saying, ‘You go ahead, I’ll bring him.’ She then went to his house and convinced him to take the evening flight instead.” Himani added that she never knew exactly what triggered his hesitation, but suspected someone had warned him that it wasn’t an auspicious time to travel.

Despite these quirks, Himani praised Govinda for always treating her with respect and keeping the sets lively. Over the years, stories of Govinda’s superstitions have often surfaced in the industry. It is said that he avoids accepting money on Thursdays, returning it if someone insists, and at one point even hired an astrologer to be present during film shoots. This fascinating insight into Govinda’s personal beliefs adds another layer to the charismatic actor’s off-screen persona, proving that superstition played a significant role in the life of one of Bollywood’s most beloved stars.
