Hiramandi, the latest film by renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and cinematographer Sudip Chatterjee, has begun production. Bhansali is going to join the world of OTT through ‘Hiramandi’. Netflix will stream the web series “Hiramandi,” which takes place in a Lahore, Pakistan, red light area. In the series, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Manisha Koirala will play significant roles. Rekha, an enduring actress, will reportedly appear in one of the episodes of this show.
Netflix India shared the announcement on Instagram with the caption, “We are excited to announce that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi IS COMING TO NETFLIX. Words aren’t enough to explain how excited we are that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is partnering with us for this epic Netflix Original series but these emojis come pretty close.
Let us remind you that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has shown the life of a sex worker in numerous films prior to “Hiramandi.” Both Chandramukhi in the movie “Devdas” and the recently released movie “Gangubai Kathiawadi” shared the same plot.
In a recent interview, under the guise of the movie, Bhansali also went into great length about his personal life. He says that I also grew up in a chawl. When we used to return from school, we frequently saw women who lived close to the red light area, but their mother would be unable to discuss it. According to Bhansali, their faces convey every emotion.
In Pakistan’s Lahore, Hiramandi is close to the Badshahi Mosque. This place used to be a lot of fun, but as times changed, so did the atmosphere. Hiramandi has been around since the days when Pakistan and India were united, and the Mughals were in charge of it at that time.
Apart from sex workers, Hiramandi, known as the pride of the Mughals, used to feature women performing music and mujra. But presently, Hiramandi’s fame has diminished. The current atmosphere is different from the previous one. Like Hiramandi had attracted someone’s eye.
