Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty has faced a tough time after the mysterious death of her boyfriend and actor Sushant Singh Rajput. She was accused of abetting Sushant’s suicide and was put under the trial.
After suffering a lot of criticism and hatred, Rhea came out victorious in the entire controversy. Recently, she attended India Today Conclave where she opened up facing witch-hunt during the late actor’s death investigation. The actress also addressed being called ‘Chudail’ by the trollers.
Rhea Chakraborty reveals why she finds the name ‘Chudail’ interesting
During the media event, Rhea said that she has updated her version and Rhea 2.0 is completely different from the older one. She stated that she actually likes the label ‘Chudail’ which people gave her after Sushant’s demise. Detailing the reason behind the same, the ‘Jalebi’ actress quoted:
“In older times, a witch was a woman who did not fathom to the patriarchal society. She had her own way of living and her own opinion that was against the popular opinion of men back then. Maybe I am that person. Maybe I am a chudail. Maybe I know how to do black magic.”

Further in the interaction, Rhea spoke about how people in Indian society fail to recognise the impact of mental stress on a person’s life. She said that though India is moving forward and young people are talking about mental health issues but they still don’t understand how somebody can be depressed despite having fame and success.
The 31-year old actress also talked about the time she spent in jail post SSR’s death. She called it a difficult yet humbling experience. Rhea stated, “It is interesting because you are away from society. You are put in this place because you are no longer fit to be in society. At this moment, you start viewing yourself as nothing. You are just a number and you do as you are instructed. You are given a few moments of happiness in your life, and so snatch them. That’s what I learnt from jail. I’m here to snatch it.”
For the unversed, Rhea Chakraborty maintained low profile after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death controversy in 2020. She did not face camera for a long time. The actress is now acing as one of the gang leaders on reality show ‘MTV Roadies Season 19’.
